We’re excited to welcome all qualified applicants to an interview, but having a car and a full UK driving licence is essential as our workshop is rurally located - there is simply no public transport anywhere near us sadly.   • Studio Assistant/Packer

    Job Title: Studio Assistant/Packer at Feldspar Studio

    Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday 8.30 - 4.30

    Reports to: Studio Manager

    Location: Devon

    Job Description:  

    To assist in the achievement of sales targets and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by providing quick, efficient and accurate despatch of products, both for wholesale and direct sales orders and accurate record keeping on a computerised system. This is a general administrative position to assist our Studio Manager with the day-to-day tasks.

    Responsibilities:

    - Packing and organising dispatch of direct sales, this includes using our software system (Unleashed) as well as our DTC system (Shopify) - experience is not necessary but computer literacy is essential

    - Packing and documenting wholesale orders for stockists 

    - Assisting with the receipt of supplier orders - packing boxes etc. 

    - Quality checking incoming stock - eye for detail is essential

    - Ensure that all stock is correctly labelled and in the right location

    - Assisting with organisation of the final stages of production

    - Boxing up finished ware to our meticulous quality standards

    - Palletising ware and assisting with the process of pallets being collected 

    - To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required of you in the post

    Knowledge and skills:

    - This role would suit someone who is organised with an excellent eye for detail. 

    - It is an administrative role and not a production role. The individual will deal with finished ware only.  Joining a small team in the workshop, it is essential that the successful candidate is a confident communicator and is able to develop and maintain positive relationships with all suppliers, visitors and colleagues, always behaving in a professional manner.

    - The role is very physical and will require heavy lifting (nothing over 15kg), bending for packing and manual handling of large parcels. The successful candidate must be able to support and adhere to all policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure their own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by their actions.  Employees must follow instructions and always co-operate with their line manager to enable us to meet our legal responsibilities.  

    Experience:

    - No experience is necessary, full training will be given

    Notes:

    - This job is based on site in our Tedburn-St-Mary workshop. It is not possible to do this job remotely. Our workshop hours are 8.30-4.30, Monday to Friday with a morning break for elevenses and a break for lunch. 

    - Salary £21,675 pa.

    - PLEASE NOTE: There is no public transport anywhere nearby so a full UK driving licence and your own transport is essential. The workshop is on a working farm.

  • Ceramic Decorator

    Job Title: Ceramic Decorator at Feldspar Studio

    Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday 8.30 - 4.30

    Job Description:  

    Part of the production team within a small company, the ceramic decorator will assist production at our Tedburn-St-Mary workshop in Devon. This role focuses on the decoration of our fine bone china pieces. Everything we make is decorated using specialist on-glazes applied by paintbrush. This would therefore benefit someone who enjoys meticulous attention to detail. As part of a production team, the role will include decorating ware as well as loading and unloading kilns and scheduling firings to be able to best fill the kilns to minimise wastage. 

    Responsibilities:

    - Working as part of a team decorating pre-glazed fine bone china ware

    - Loading and unloading of kilns, this is a crucial stage and requires attentive & careful workmanship. Please note the kiln shelves are heavy to lift

    - Coordinate with the Production Manager for approval and direction

    - Be a part of planning for daily and weekly schedules based on Purchase Orders with guidance from the production manager

    - Keep all work areas tidy and clean down at the end of the day

    - Input stock information using our production management software (Unleashed)


    Knowledge and skills:

    - This role would suit someone who is organised with an excellent eye for detail. 

    - It is a production role in a busy ceramics studio. While you are creating all day, it is not a creative role as such but a part of a production team. 

    - Joining a small team in the workshop, it is essential that the successful candidate is a confident communicator and is able to develop and maintain positive relationships with all visitors and colleagues, always behaving in a professional manner.

    - The role is very physical and will require heavy lifting of kiln shelves as well as repetitive tasks.

    - The successful candidate must be able to support and adhere to all company policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure their own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by their actions.  Employees must follow instructions and always co-operate with their line manager.

    Experience:

    - Experience in any form of art and drawing is advantageous but not necessary as full training will be required. An eye for detail and organisation is important as well as excellent timekeeping.

    - Please note - this is a production role so we are looking for candidates who will really enjoy the challenge of getting through a list of products to decorate each day, while this involves making it is not a creative role as such. 

    Notes:

    - This job is based onsite in our Tedburn-St-Mary workshop which is situated on a working farm. It is not possible to do this job remotely.
